MessageSujet: Interview of Hank Cheyne (Ricardo) by the forum   Ven 22 Mai - 17:44

Our interview of Hank Cheyne Very Happy :

1) Have you memorable memories or anecdotes in Ricardo Torres's role ?

yes I have great memories of Sunset Beach.
It was a great place to go to work everyday because the people and fellow cast members were all a lot of fun and it is always a cool thing to be a working actor.

2) Do play in a show as Sunset Beach influence a lot the career ? And if that yes, how ?

Its always good to work in this business and working in daytime is like doing theater everyday so you can work on you craft develop and try different things.

3) What are your best memories of Sunset Beach ? Do you have bad memories too ?

We had a lot of good times especially going to the awards shows the Emmy's and soap awards etc
we also shot on location a lot which other soaps do not.
we were at the beach shooting at least once a month to do those scenes which was a lot of fun getting out of the studio.

4) What did you think of your storyline (the trial, the stroke) ? And which one did you prefer ?

the trial was very rushed and I didn’t think it was handled that well as a story laura harring had been let go and they were trying to figure out a place to put our characters to end that part of the story.
the stroke story was a lot of work and a challenger to do
I was in bed for a month Priscilla and Nick would crack up because i'd be lying there without any lines playing jokes on them while they had to concentrate always fun!
and then the wheelchair and the physical elements were a challenge to do it was a lot of fun to work on as an actor and to take Ricardo from being incapacitated to getting well again and seeking revenge

5) What you would change in Ricardo’s character and in his relations ?

I wish they would have written him better many times i had to try and make a scene different b/c they would write him so naive and he wasn’t a kid he was and adult and would have reacted differently
he was so hotheade many times and I would have liked to have seen him more levelheaded

6) If the show had continued, how would you have seen your character develop ?

hopefully he would have become a little cooler and more hip
I felt like they always tried to pigeonhole him into what they thought a latin character was

7) If Ricardo was in front of you what you would say to him ?

thanks for giving me a place and person to play with
chill out a little don’t be so hotheaded and move on from Gabi !!

8 ) Does Ricardo’s character look like you ?

I'm a lot loser in real life in the way i act and dress
sometimes my hair is down to my shoulders i may have a goatee etc but i guess you cld still recognize a little of me in Ricardo for sûre

9) Would you have liked playing another character in the show ? And if that’s yes which one ?

sûre Cole would have been fun and Ben /Derek playing twins could have been a lot of fun especially the bad one!

10) At the time when the show stopped were you disappointed ? And now do you regret that period ?

we knew the possibility that it would get cancelled even when ANOTHER WORLD was cancelled earlier we knew that could have been us o we escaped the knif that time
it was a bummer because a steady job is always a cool thing in this business but you always know it doesn’t last forever and it opens up different doors or forces you to go thru others
i got heavily in to my painting after the show and that was a positive thing
i do miss seeing all those knuckleheads on a day to day though we had so much fun goofing around and hanging out

11) In the show do you had any actors or actresses that you particularly enjoyed playing with ?

obviously me and nick and Priscilla spent a lot of time together and Clive and Dax and all the otheres would always have dinners etc

12) You would have seen Ricardo ending with Paula or Gabi ?

I think Ricardo would move on and find someone different more as in real life the show kept ethnicities (Latin characters/blacks/whites)together which I thought was not a true reality anymore but in real life I got the blond!

13) What was the most difficult scene to play ?

probably the stroke scenes were the hardest when he was trying to communicate and had the physical disability to deal with

14) Have you kept contact with the actors of Sunset ?

yes some of us stay in contact it would be good to have a reunion someday
s hot a lot of camera footage during the show I always was taking video especially before we got cancelled I wanted to put together a documentary called " AFTER SUNSET " and keep up with what was happening to very on I think it would have been great like the HILLS/ THE OC etc but it was just a little before those shows and nobody really took me seriously or saw the potential because we already had an audience and I thought it would have drawn a lot of viewers especially if we could have got it on the internet but that was a couple years before the computer etc had got streaming down to where it is now

15) Did the end of Sunset Beach correspond to your expectations or have you expected other things ?

well it's always great to keep making money and working you move on and try to keep developing yourself as an actor and an artist

16) In retrospect, did you have any regrets playing in a show as Sunset Beach ?

no regrets at all except that some people in the entertainment busines don’t have any respect for daytime and it can tend to label you which s ridiculous because the prime time shows are basically soaps at night with better production values they take 2 weeks to do one show and do maybe 13-2- a year what a luxury to have the time to work that way
daytime does probably 250 shows a year-one a day and the workload (workload peut être ??) is 10 times what the others do so it's hard to do your best work on a day to day basis because you have so much material to get thru in a day--sometimes 15-20 25 pages of dialogue

17) If the show returns, would you agree to take back Ricardo's role ?

I don’t think it would ever return daytime is losing viewers and shows when I began as an actor i think there were 12-13 shows and now I think there is 6 although there could be shows now on the internet but I would never say never no I always would consider it

18) What are your plans now ?

right now i am trying to get more work as an actor a constant process keep your eyes open for SAINTS AND SINNERS its playing in Canada now and I play the bad guy!
also working on my artwork and writing

19) What are your hobbies ?

love to travel and want to do more of that
hope to keep developing my artwork, i love design and architecture also want to finish a documentary that I'm working on that is still being edited and hopefully will get done soon abnd entered into film festivals

20) Have you any projects of plays ? If that’s yes what are these ?

same as above and always trying to figure out ways to participate in this business you have to learn to create your own work whether that is theater ,writing/ filming painting etc

I want to thank you guys for all the support and hope you are having wonderful productive lives
Find something you love to do and go for it ! thats what i did and with a little luck and good forune and hard work you will get there!!!

peace and love to all
hank cheyne

Hank was honest about his experience and how the writers went back and let down ricardo. Hank had a good idea about 'what happens to SB's stars now' but it was a couple of years ahead of its time, i'm sûre can be done now but tactfully and with more skill.
